Delivery Queue

Former Member
Former Member over 13 years ago

How about posting confirmation numbers when people receive their R-Pi's.  That should give us some idea of expected delivery time.

Example: My Conf # is 191353.  I saw a post that 160xxx has received his.  That gives me about 31K to go.

Ordered mine at 0815GMT on the 29th. Order conf 1645xxx.

Just had an e-mail to say delivery will take place week commencing 7th May. Yippee!

I can't wait. In total nearly as long a wait as for my first BBC B - gasp!

If you're refering to my order, I have no idea, but just checked my on-line account with Farnell and that still says that it's on back order!

    I was, Gio.

I'm extremely surprised that my order is so far back in the queue comparing to some of the other people who ordered days after me.

I'm not happy with it either, I went to great lengths to ensure my position was in the first batch here in Australia.

I've been cheated somewhere, because my initial call confirmed I was EXTREMELY early in the queue..

    I guess something went wrong.

I wonder if it's because I'm in the UK, or it might be that you placed the order over the phone.

My order no. starts 1656.... but I imagine Australian orders might be in a different list.

Still, orders online were impossible with the downed sites, so I assume my order over the phone would have been

even earlier than those who tried online while the sites were down.

I'm sure orders in the U.K would get earlier delivery times because they originated from there for the most part.

I don't know my order number and I don't know how to check but I wish I did.

Kinda hurts after all the reassurance that I was early in the queue only to get it in the next two months after an already

    delayed launch.

    Philip,

Nothing about this whole launch and sales SNAFU surprises me any more.  Many people waited months/years for the development to be complete and were very excited to learn of the "exciting announcement" on 29 Feb.  Anyone with 1/2 a brain probably figured out that it was the launch.

But nothing of the lead up would have lead anyone to think that sales would have been anywhere else but on the foundation's store.  I know that at 1am EST in Canada I was wide awake with multiple windows open and bookmarks arranged to try and be in the first batch.  The horror of seeing NO SITES working (at least in Canada) from 1AM until about 1:30AM was mind-numbing.  Until the foundation put up the static page explaining what to do, I had no idea what was happening.  I was checking my wireless connection, running to my router and modem to reset them only to find out it wasn't me.

The fact that some of the sites for Farnell and RS were working only in the UK, where I'm sure that the lions share of the first 10k is going, was just really annoying.  Further to that, by the time that the Farnell and RS sites were accessible again, it was clear that not everyone could order from them since RS wasn't initially allowing sales to individuals, only businesses.  Farnell didn't have links for most non-EU countries.  I personally didn't know that Newark was the Farnell distributor in North America, it took some research to find this out.  In the end it was hours after launch that I found out how to "order" and R-Pi by using the part # and ordering from Newark Canada.  By that time likely tens of thousands of RPi had been ordered before me.

The thing is it's been almost two months since the launch and RS and Farnell/Newark still don't seem to have a grip.  I know that Belgian customers have been messed over because their national distributor is bankrupt or some like that.  I see that people who called in by phone when the sites were down are looking like they are behind those who ordered hours and days later.  People who ordered on launch day don't have delivery dates while people who ordered a month later have.

I've said it before, we need some clear information from Farnell/Newark.  We should be able to know more details on where they are globally, regionally and even nationally.  There has to be some kind of plan.

Nicole/Jenny:  Why don't you join us here in the forums and give us something useful?

Only recently received this from Farnell.

    Dear customer,

Having successfully passed its CE compliance testing, we can now confirm that your Raspberry Pi will be delivered by the end of June. You will receive a confirmation email prior to your Raspberry Pi being shipped.

I placed my order on 3 March with Newark / Element 14.

Every week or so I check the order status, and it is still showing "Expected Ship Date 16 Aug 2012".

I opened a chat to ask for more information, and was directed to http://www.element14.com/community/groups/raspberry-pi?view=overview

The chat assistant assures me that this is just a case of the ordering system not being up-to-date with the estimated shipping date.

    K.
