download center obsolete -- please help

Former Member
Former Member over 13 years ago

now that RPi's are shipping in volume, it is absurd that the element14 download

center is so badly out of date.  The versions of debian and arch are not recent,

the password for debian is not correct, there are no instructions on how to get

current versions of the firmware, even though some very important firmware

bugs have been fixed in the last month.

have recently been tripped up by the obsolete password instructions

in paragraph 11 (says suse, should say raspberry) at:

    http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-44935

Can this please be fixed soon?

    Hi Coder27.

Thanks for posting this! We are going to sort-out the issue with these non-current downloads as fast as possible and will post an announcement here to the Raspberry Pi group to let everyone know it's been fixed. Sorry about the problem!

    Thanks Blue!

I look forward to not seeing any more complaints about passwords not working.

    Hey Coder--

Can you do me a favor + try it now? Our development team has just updated the download files, and everything should now be current.

    Blue,

Everything looks good now, with the exception that there are no instructions

(at least that I see) explaining how to install newer versions of the firmware.

This is important because the Debian and Arch distributions are somewhat stale,

dated April 19 and April 29, respectively, and there have been quite a few

important firmware bug fixes since then.

The firmware updating instructions are at:
