Lost my place in line due to Elements incompetence

I am going to give my story mostly because I am angry...

I placed an order for a Pi on March 1.  In the time since my credit card had to be canceled due to illicit activity.  Apparently Element has no way to change this information and the only solution they have for me is to cancel my original order and place a new order.  This obviously makes me lose my place in line.

The moral of this story is don’t let anyone hack your credit card until they ship your Pi otherwise you lose your place in line. My Pi was supposed to ship tomorrow now it says November.  This is unbelievably disappointing.

    ARGH!!! More frustration! I was sent a message from the webmaster:

    Credit card changes can be made by calling the credit card hotline at 773-907-5740

    That is fine and dandy except when I called in earlier I was told that my ONLY option is to cancel the order and make a new order. This is apparently NOT the case.

    Now what do I do. I am on hold with customer support to try to fix the problem. It does not seem too hopeful though since I would have to get a now canceled order reinstated.

    Lesson 2 learned: Don't let them cancel you order call the credit card hotline at 773-907-5740 to get it changed. Just a note though the charge to the original MUST fail before you can change the number even though you know it’s going to fail there is nothing they can do about it. Also apparently you can only change the card number and expiration all other information must remain (billing information and name on card)

    wait - um, why would you need to provide a new card number or anything if they already billed you/charged you for the item? i mean when you preordered it, didnt you get charged? i did..

    so theyve got the money, all they need to do is ship it out, no questions asked.. right?

    In many cases (like mine) newark.com made a US$1 charge to validate the credit card number + expiration date and then credited back US$1.  They will charge the full amount when the order ships.  If the credit card expiration changes in the mean time then the charge will bounce and (with luck) Newark will contact the buyer to get new credit card information.

    oh alright - if they didnt charge you upfront then yeah i get it..

     

    BUT element14 charged me the full amount at the time of the preorder.. so am i safe or not? my "estimated" ship date is june 25th and the card is valid till end june..
