Still waiting for delivery date?

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 14 years ago

Hi,

I have ordered in early april and the only thing I got so far is an ORP number (ORP019443). So I am still waiting for an expected delivery date? Can anybody provide a contact (email etc.) where I can get more information about the delivery state?

Thanks,

Franz

I am honestly amazed at some of the reactions on here to delays/lack of information about shipping. We have all ordered a completely new device that was only released to manufacture a few months ago and which has received orders probably well in excess of 100,000 units. How surprising would it be to find that the supply chain struggles to keep pace with demand and also has problems keeping people informed. We all surely know that the PI is a low-profit article for two major component suppliers to be selling, and that they each have a massive commercial operation to run selling their main lines of product.

Let's face it, what you have ordered is a toy, no more, no less; not having it for a few weeks won't damage your health or wealth, so would it not be advisable to stop behaving like children who have been denied an ice-cream and just demonstrate a little patience?

To react like one poster who says he is going to tell his boss to boycott Farnell and that he will throw his PI into a corner and not use it when it eventually arrives is surely a massive over-reaction and just typical of our culture that demands everything NOW!

Not my intention to upset anyone, just trying to be a grown-up! image

Then there is us, the people that didn't even get a automatic confirmation e-mail. The only way we can find out what the hell is going on is by contacting customer support.

Apparently the Estimated shipping date doesn't mean anything. I just received a Private Mail from Customer Support and they now say it will be shipping July 12th.

The slipped date of 5 June has now slipped again to 12 July

    Pathetic!

Just an update. My estimated delivery date on Newark has changed once more to July 12th. It looks like we are approaching the original August date!

There are times when I wonder if there is some "squeaky wheel" syndrom going on. That is, they ship to the people who give them a hard time by transferring orders slated for the ones that wait quietly, and then slip the ship dates of the latter.

Might explain why mine went from "back-ordered" to "arrived" and back to "back-ordered" again (with a consequent slip in the ship date).

    Hi Herb,

I apologize that your date is changing. I am going to send you a private message so that we can keep your information confidential but then we can take a look into your order.

Hello all, Just an update. I received my Rasberry Pi this past weekend! It was delivered on Saturday the 9th of July. It came in a barely sufficient envelope with some padding. Its in a small box and the total weight is less than 10 ounces. I did not receive a T-shirt with it. Now I can get to work on the Pi and check it out! I am happy it was received and don't have too much problems with the shipping delays. So I ordered on March 19th and received on July 9th. It wasn't the longest I've waited for a product though. My ham radio (FT-817ND from Yaesu) took over six months sitting in back order status! I hope everyone gets theirs' without too much wait. Thanks, Butch

Holy moly Butch, where are you in the world that 9 July is on a Saturday?

Or .... maybe there's a time-schizm somewhere .... hey that's a thought - it might explain the screwd up deliveries.

Yeah, I see two possibilities. Either he got his 'pi from the future on saturday the 9th of july 2011 about 8 months before the big announcement, and only now told us about it, or he got his 'pi on saturday the 9th of july 2016, and travelled back in time to tell us about it today.....

(On the other hand, there might be another explanation.... :-) )

Well, if space-time is doing to that again, anything could happen. We might even get our R-Pi's!

Oh wow!  I was referring to the other kind of inflation, the kind created by inept handwavers pretending they understand money.  But you're right, this could be the kind of inflation that followed the Big Bang, and it's easy to see the source of it:  Pi hype!  It's even obvious from the name:  Pi hype[rinflation].

You're really onto something there, it would explain so many things!  For example, cosmologists postulate Dark Matter to explain the missing mass of the universe, but have they even factored in the immense mass of Pi fanbois?  I bet they forgot that one!

This really deserves a lot more serious thought ...

    rotfl !

Well for one thing, if we are in another inflationary period, the values of various physical "constants" such as - oh..... to take any random example .....say pi - will be changing (rather rapidly). And you know that might just be reflected in my rapidly changing shipping date.

The facts are incontrovertible!  I'm sure there's a Nobel Prize coming.  How do you feel about travelling to Sweden?

So .... this morning (13 July) , as is my wont, I checked my E14 account to see if they had slipped the R-Pi shipping date yet again. Good news though it's still "backordered" but on track to be shipped July 16.

Having done that I went for a walk and returned half an hour later to find a Purolator note on my door to say that they had tried to deliver it while I was out (7 min before I returned actually).

An hour later, I received an email saying it was shipped on 13 July (since I'm in Canada and E14 is in the US, it seems unlikely that it would have got here by 9:40 am unless they shipped at midnight - but no matter). Checked on line and sure enough it now says "order complete" and shipped on Jul 13.

Strange procedure with everything happening in reverse sequence (told you someone was messing with spacetime) but still, I've got it at last .... or nearly ...... I can't pick it up from Purolator until after 5pm when the truck gets back to the depot with it.
