Still waiting for delivery date?

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 14 years ago

Hi,

I have ordered in early april and the only thing I got so far is an ORP number (ORP019443). So I am still waiting for an expected delivery date? Can anybody provide a contact (email etc.) where I can get more information about the delivery state?

Thanks,

Franz

I've heard of delivery time of 3 weeks for people in Europe.

If that's true, I doubt our Raspberry Pis will be delivered by the end of June if they haven't even been confirmed by now.

    Order from April 1st.

Well, two weeks to go still, and they haven't broken their end-of-June promise yet.  I want to be positive about it until that time.  After all they gave a very firm committment. image

As Morgaine says, their latest curent 'Delivery Update' which was dated 27th April, and which is still 'live' clearly states that "By early next week, all 110,000 customers who have ordered with element14 - wherever you are in the world - will receive a confirmed delivery date. As previously communicated, this will be no later than the end of June for those who ordered before April 18th."

If they now know that they will not be able to honour this firm comitment, then surely a revised statement should be issued NOW and not in two weeks time!

I just received an email from a sales person in Farnell and the new delivery date for orders placed before April 14th is by the end of July.

Ordered on April 1st (ORP010879), and still no news...

    That cannot be true:

    the FAQ  http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-43262/l/updated-28-may-frequently-asked-questions-about-raspberry-pi states:

    Q. Are you on track with your promise to fill all back orders?

    A. Yes. We made a promise to customers who ordered before 18th April, that they would get their Pi’s before the end of June.  We are on track to keep that commitment.  We will have shipped out 41,000 Raspberry Pis by the end of May and our customers will have received, or will be receiving their Pis over the next few days.  We are on track to have shipped 100,000 Raspberry Pis by the end of June and have further production planned for delivery to customers in July.

    Q. Why can I no longer pre-order?  Why is my only option to register at the moment?

    A. We are currently on track to ship 100,000 Raspberry Pis by the end of June. In order to be fair, we have temporarily closed the option to pre-order until we have cleared all back orders.  As soon as most of the back orders have been delivered, we will again invite people who have registered to place their order.

i.e. about 100k people ordered by april 18th.

    Q. If I ordered before 18th April, what should I expect?

    A. Everyone who ordered before 18th April will definitely receive their Raspberry Pi before the end of June. (You'll also get an email letting you know when your unit actually ships!).

Again confirmation of "before april 18th means before the end of june".

It would NOT be a good move to let that schedule slip.....

The sales person told me it would be despatched no later than July 5th.

    Despatched =/= Received

Farnell doesn't seem to have any guidelines for their sales persons. Everyone I see here comes with a different answer.

Seems those sales persons are just making up dates to satisfy the customers.

I wish we could get some clear communication of where they are at the moment instead of keep getting false information.

My co-worker ordered his from RS three weeks ago and has shipping confirmation already. image

I am tempted to cancel my order and place it with RS since I have an order invite from them.

RS are running some two and a half months behind Farnell, according to the schedule they published --- http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5449&p=102023#p102023

I'd stick with Farnell if I were you.  Invitations from RS are waiting around 10 weeks putting delivery around the end of August (see Morgaines post).  I'd like to know how your co-worker ordered his three weeks ago.  Presumably he registered an interest really early on...

I ordered to farnell on 4 March and I got the message that I would receive it before the end of june. But I haven't heard anything more from them.

I am a little nervous because I can not check the order because the webpage says username not valid. Hope everything is ok

I placed my order with E14 on March 27th.  My co-worker signed up for notification from RS on the opening day and ordered his Pi sometime after May 8th and received it last week (Thursday or Friday).  I deleted my RS invintation otherwise I would go ahead and order it and see if it comes sooner than the E14 order.

Moral of the story.. the schedule may say RS is behind.........
