Still waiting for delivery date?

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 14 years ago

Hi,

I have ordered in early april and the only thing I got so far is an ORP number (ORP019443). So I am still waiting for an expected delivery date? Can anybody provide a contact (email etc.) where I can get more information about the delivery state?

Thanks,

Franz

    Hi All,

For those of you who are enquiring about your delivery date in reference to an ORP number, we have been sending regular delivery update emails. We will be sending further delivery updates to all recent ORP numbers. You will also receive a 'shipping confirmation' email when your Raspberry Pi has been dispatched from our warehouse. Please note we are on track to deliver all current ORP orders by late July/early August.

    Thanks

That's just not good enough. The last delivery update I and apparently a lot of others in the delivery queue received stated "

we can't send your order just yet, but it will be despatched the week commencing 02/07/2012."

I have not received any email since and the 02/07/2012 date is well gone.

The parallel thread Delivery ??  hasn't had a support answer since coincidently 02/7/2012.

If Farnell are unable to keep their promises then they should at least notify their customers and not ignore them.

Farnell have long been my first point of call for electronics but this delivery business is causing me to wonder if I will ever order another thing from this company.

    Hi Len3805,

If you can send us a private message with your order reference we can look into this for you.

    Thanks

Well I sent a PM but no reply. So it looks as though some orders have just disappeared into the proverbial black hole.

Contacting Customer Service in the UK is a waste of time (for me anyway) they don't seem to know about the Pi orders. It's obviously handled differently elsewhere.

    Well another day, another week.

I was invited to order on the 3rd of April. I did so. I received a Farnell Reference number ORP022111.

I received an email with the "Good News" that the CE stuff had been passed and that my Pi would be delivered at the end of June.

Then I received the infamous "Update on your Raspberry Pi Delivery" saying that it would be dispatched the week commencing 02/07/2012.

Then the request on the forum for a PM so that they could look into this despite all the information already being available on the forum. Sent PM.

    Then............... Well nothing so far?

I have to be pleased that others with higher order numbers have received their Pi's but also disappointed that Farnell have treated some of us so shabbily.

    Well,

My adventure with Farnell just got serious. Last Friday I received a mail that my credit card was declined and that I should call them witk the new card details.

I call them, solved the problem and ...  they take my money. ORP020210

After that, as usually, no word, no delivery mail, no nothing.

    Sooooo.... I'm waiting. Again.

My card has been used very recently with all manner of online/offline retailers including Farnell but it is interesting that this card declined problem keeps on cropping up. Perhaps something specific to the way Farnell are handling this Pi business.

As others have said, the sooner the Pi gets integrated into the 'normal' retail channel the better. I know it's getting there but what a mess for the rest of us in the meantime left high and dry.

You should expect 2-3 days for them between charging the creditcard and the actual shipping. When it ships, you'll get your notice....

@len3805, Because creditcards have an expiry date somewhere every 2-5 years, in 3 months time, about 6-12% of them will expire. So people who have their card declined had a valid card in march/april, but it expired in the meantime.

Just an update to my wait.

I received a PM this morning (17th July) saying that my credit/debit card had been declined. I rang the contact number and my (same) card info was put in without any problems. But as I never received the email asking for my card info anyway how could it have been declined? So stuck in a black-hole.

Anyway I might actually get it now.

Edit: Just to complicate it further, later in the day I received an email to tell me my card had been declined. Now was this the original email I should/shouldn't have received? I don't know, so ring back again.......... Yep the order had gone though so this email was spurious.

    Just a shambles.

Edit: For the sake of completeness. I received an email notifying of despatch on the Thursday, two days later. Then the Pi arrived on the Saturday (21st July)

So more or less two weeks later than the promised despatch on week commencing 02/07/2012.
