Shipment Date Changed again.

Was all excited when i woke up this morning. This is the day my Raspi was supposed to ship. Check the status of the order it was no longer Backorder it had changed to Received. More excitment. Get ready for work drink some coffee refresh the page for fun/out of excitment it had gone back to a status of backorder and a new ship date of june 28th. What is going on with Newark/Element14. are they not able to keep track of stock and know who they will be able to ship to in what time. Why would it get delayed a whole other week. This is getting very frustrating for me and had my son in tears when i told him the bad news. I will be calling Newark as soon as they open and hope to shed some light on this. This is getting out of hand. Ordered March 6th.

  • Called. Was told that my PI is on way to warehouse in canada and should ship to me on monday. that i can accept what i could not understand/accept was a whole other week of delay.

    Well, there are those of us who ordered on the first day, and have received no communications from 'Farnell Central' whatsoever: we ordered via a part of Farnell whose orders, for some unknown reason, appear to have been put to the back of the queue [CPC], but an error which is apparently now being corrected! - with stock finally being allocated this week!  There are also the 'QT400' - who were supposed to have received their 400 from the first 10,000 boards,  - and had to go through hurdles before that for project approvals, but who, perhaps through lack of staff at the Foundation, got sidelined; and this was arranged to be remedied last week by Farnell taking on the distribution: think of it not as a 'delay' on your order, but a correction to the promised 'in order of ordering' .... and note that, despite the large volumes (well in excess of the original 10,000 funded by the Foundation members from their mortgages), that have now been made, the number only just about matches the number of orders received on the FIRST day.  Also apparently, the orders following the launch day have not 'declined' in the usual manner, but are still coming in: The resources needed to handle this, have perhaps surprised both companies supplying the boards; and as was seen on the first day, it t their systems to breaking point!  Whilst production is still ramping up, the delays are still increasing as more orders follow.. and this is before 'bulk' orders are being accepted:   Remember that this was not a Apple launch - from a company with more money than the US Government!, but a small charity of 6 people, and no paid full-time employee (at the start) - hence the wise adoption of both Farnell/Element 14 and ES/Allied to take on the manufacture and distribution .. when they thought even 10,000 might not sell within a month!
