Hi,

I have ordered the Rasberry Pi by a link that i have received for the pre-order

Today I have received the following mail:

Dear customer,

We can now confirm that your Raspberry Pi will be dispatched the week commencing 09/07/2012.

We are aiming to fulfil your order earlier wherever possible and you will receive a confirmation email prior to your Raspberry Pi being shipped.

Prepare for your Raspberry Pi

Prepare  for your Raspberry Pi by downloading all the software you need. To get started, visit our download centre.

If you have any further questions, please visit our FAQ page on element14 for more information.

Once again, thank you for being  patient. We hope you’ll enjoy the limitless computing potential and experience the Raspberry Pi offers.

Farnell element14

Now I want to know where I can see my shipping adress and also my payment settings.

Thanks

I'm confused by this as well, so I would appreciate Davy's question being answered.

I have a perfectly good Farnell account at http://uk.farnell.com/ which allows me to manage my personal details and which I use for all my Farnell orders, but it makes no mention of my outstanding Pi order.

As directed by Farnell emails, I placed my Pi order through the http://export.farnell.com/ site, so I understand that my ordinary Farnell account details may not be known there.  Fair enough, but what is the name of my account at export.farnell.com where can I find them?  When Farnell confirmed my order, they gave me a Farnell reference number, but made no mention of the appropriate Farnell account.

That information must be accessible to me.  It's a requirement of the Data Protection Authority, at least in the UK.

    Morgaine.

    Morgaine,

I had a dream the other night, well, maybe a nightmare would be

a better description.  In the dream I had invented some wonderful

new widget, the details of which are fuzzy, but it was truly wonderful.

Not wanting to get bogged down in the difficulties of manufacturing

and distributing this widget, it occured to me to outsource those functions,

and for some reason I had element14 on my mind and contacted them.

They wanted some percentage that struck me as astronomical.

Had I been thinking clearly, I almost certainly would have considered it

    to be more than fair.

Instead, my response was to point out the nominal percentage the RPi

foundation is presumed to have negotiated, and asked why I couldn't

get the same deal.  They replied that they would be happy to give me

the same deal and asked if I'd noticed all the complaints that the RPi

customers were making.  Did I want my customers to actually be able

to order the product, or just to express an interest.  Did I want my

customers to get an acknowledgement when they expressed their

interest?  Did I want my customers to have an order page where they

could track their estimated delivery date and update their address and

credit card details?   Did I want my customers to be able to get useful

information from phone support and online chat?  Did I want my customers

    to get priority delivery service?

As I was pondering these questions, I woke up, dripping with sweat,

but with a great clarity of thought.

coder27:  Interesting dreams you have.  But it doesn't alter Farnell's legal duty, and they need to answer this.

It's yet another reason why Pi must be made available as a normal in-stock item pronto.  For those of us eager to buy several boards, we need access to Farnell's good quality ordering process through our regular Farnell accounts, or at least to have new Farnell accounts on export.farnell.com.  We can't really be expected to repeat the current disaster for future orders.

It was "fun" done once, and once only.

    Morgaine.

as  tknoops, I have an ORP029xxx Order number, ordered on the 17th April ( the day before the 'yay, everyone who ordered by now will get theirs by end june' date). I did get that date in a subsequent email. Nothing else since, and they must have to ship today so I can get it by tomorrow!

I am also surprised that I cannot find out for myself the order status. Do I really have to harass an actual person via email - which I have been reluctant to do up til now. Also, it does seem that many people have ordered later and got goods sooner, plus the people who have expressed interest then heard nothing way before the date that i ordered (I had a link in a general farnell mailshot).

amjl2000: I refrained from contacting customer support for the exact same reason, but did just that this afternoon. Getting a bit worried they lost my order when I see people with higher order numbers receiving shipping confirmation image
