NOTES
______
This post just provides direct links to the corresponding blog posts of the Element 14 Raspberry Pi Blog .
It was previously intended to provide direct links to the blog slices, but that doesn't work and has been removed.
Replies in this thread are best avoided (because blog discussions are most appropriate in the blog) unless:
- You're writing comments/suggestions about these links thermselves or about the thread.
- You wish to draw forum attention to some new item on the blog, for example RPF reblogs.
- The topic is meta or cross-cutting, ie. it refers to multiple blog posts, days, months or years.
To avoid promoting some blog entries above others based on my own interests, I'll update this thread with nothing more than "Updated" whenever a new blog post appears, devoid of further comment. This has the sole purpose of bumping the listing to raise blog visibility.
Comments about individual blog posts should of course be attached to the corresponding blog posts directly.
______
Addendum -- The forum links aren't working properly for blog slice addresses (for example, URLs that select a given month or day).
The actual slice URLs and the blog server addressing are fine --- for example paste "http://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/blog/2012/04/13/" into your address bar and it takes you to the desired slice --- but it seems that the forum processing strips blog slice info off the end of blog URLs, eg. the trailing "/2012/04/13/" is stripped off, so all blog slice URLs in the forum end up pointing to the top level of the blog only.
In other words, forum links to blog slices are broken.
Confirmed by looking at the page source. The forum has set every blog slice link to
href="http://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/blog"
I guess this isn't going to work. Blog slice URLs will have to be off-site, or in your bookmarks.
Addendum 2 -- Links to individual blog posts are preserved, so those could be listed despite the slice URLs being stripped.
Since blog slice URLs aren't working but blog posts URLs are, I'll remove the slice links altogether and just leave the post links.
I've now deleted the non-working blog slice URLs from the list, so here are some examples to show that they don't work:
http://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/blog/2012/04/
http://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/blog/2012/04/.
http://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/blog/2012/04/13/
If the blog slice stripping is ever fixed then I'll add the slice links which are omitted from the listing for now.
Addendum 3 -- I may have found a way to overcome the forum slice stripping, testing it now.
Woohoo, the bypass works! I simply added a '.' onto the end of the blog slice URLs. As a result I've now changed the months and year into proper slice links.
Addendum 4 -- I regret to say that I can't fix it, folks. It worked for a while, and then even the nicely working bypass URLs got replaced by the top-level blog URL. This is being done either by some asynchronous forum processing, or if conspiracy theories are admitted, some human saw my bypass working fine and has now extended the slice stripping to include those ending in '.'. I can't imagine why anyone would want to do that though so it's not a serious theory --- far more likely it's just a forum bug.
Either way, I'm afraid all the dates/months/years will have to remain as dumb text for now. Sorry.
