I was looking for a simple RTC solution too... and I'm going to try this RTC module based on the PCF8563T/F4,118PCF8563T/F4,118 - check out the original guide ! 
It looks very easy and you don't need any level converter, i'ts 3.3V-compatible. I've ordered the same module as linked in the guide, and debian wheezy should have already support for I2C - well, I think so.
