I just found this: http://au.element14.com/raspberry-pi/raspbrry-modb-512m/sbc-raspberry-pi-model-b-512mb/dp/2191863
Is this a raspberry pi with 512Mb RAM or is this a joke.

Just noticed on my Rev2 512mb that if you touch the USB controller chip, it shorts out the USB circuit. Is this a flaw? Or is it just it should not be touched?
I wonder if there's something squirrely with latest RasPis. There's someone with a similar unexplained USB/Ethernet problem at the RasPi forum. I wonder when the rev 2 schematic is going to get published? Gerbers would be nice too.

Same bloke I'm reckoning.
Just received a pi that I ordered monday of this week, the part number on the samsung chip is K4P4G324EB-AGC1, which some one indicated above is the 512 board, although
dmesg | grep -i mem
reports
[ 0.000000] Memory: 192MB = 192MB total
[ 0.000000] Memory: 188976k/188976k available, 7632k reserved, 0K highmem
cat /proc/cpuinfo
reports
| Hardware | : BCM2708 |
| Revision | : 0005 |
and
top
reports
KiB Mem: 189100 total
none of this points me to believing this is the 512 board that I was led to believe I was buying
the bag it came in says
MFR# RASPBRRY-MODB-512M
Am I missing something?
Mike
Hi Mike
This is probably a silly question but have you loaded the new firmware as mentioned by Eben on the Home page of the RPI foundation site?
You need a new version of start.elf created by downloading the required memsplit file and renaming it.
Good luck
Ray
Yeah, who reads directions first? I just downloaded the updated firmware and am rebooting as I type this. I scanned through the thread here and didn't notice anyone else reporting the same problem. I rarely go to the foundation site much anymore.
Thanks, I think that'll fix my problem.
Mike
Sorry for double posting. I get different replies from both forums.
Just had some time last night to connect the new Rev 2.0/512MB, didn't find any issues with the USB/Ethernet controller,
didn't try with my tongue but even putting the fingers on the bottom side where the crystal and other components are didn't
produce any effect.
I hope sooner or later they decide to release the schematics for the new board.
One thing that look strange is that when the original images for the 256MB with different memory splits (besides am240)
have the same file size, only two images have the same file size.

I was on the list to be notified when I could order the new 512 RPi, got an email about 2 hours ago to this affect with link to the site, however the site shows all I can do is get on the wait list (which I already was) or call an 1-888 number to make order, but the 1-888 number doesn't seem to match up to anything on the site. Probably legit, but a bad way to do business. 'Here call this number you can't verify and give us your credit card number for something the site says we don't have!'
I just recieved the 512mb version and loaded the latest Rasbian image, unforutunately it only recognizes 198 mb ram, until they make a firmware upgrade. I here the firmware is coming available in a few days.
