adding geany 1.22 to raspberry pi using Debian for os

I have downloaded geany 1.22 to the sd card that already had version.19. I would like to install 1.22 in place of .19

I am having this error "unable to locate package geany-1.22.tar

This happens when I type "sudo apt-get install geany-1.22.tar

What should I do next? Thanks

  • Are you sure the package exists for arm.

     

    sudo apt-cache search geany should show you all the available packages related to geany.

    Maybe you need to add another location to the file were it searches for new packages.

    I can't rember details about that one.

    It would also suprise me that it needs the tar extension on the command?
