Tiny Touch Screen for Pi

1st post - and I ask an awkward question! image

Does anyone know the interfacing for the iPod nano screen and digitiser - and is it compatible with the DSI input on the Pi?

The reason I ask is I plan (I always 'plan', sometimes I even 'execute'), to build a Car computer with my Pi.

Not the usual 'run-of-the-mill' media centre, but a full replacement dashboard.

As I don't have OBD (or even an ECU) I will be needing a Gertboard for sensor inputs (Speedo, Revs, Fuel Temp) and Dash warning lights. The intention is to drive graphical representations of the existing analogue gauges, and warning lights could be replaced by text prompts. (More on that in later posts). image

Where the mini touch screen comes into play is for starting/stopping the car.

The idea is the provide a 'Start Button' graphic when the Pi detects an input from the RFID reader I have (logic state change) and then pressing the touchscreen starts the car, on detecting that the engine is running the graphic then changes to a 'Stop Button' graphic - and you can probably guess what happens when you touch that.

Basically, I want to use a pretty display instead of a really easy, cheap, already provided on the Gertboard as a buffered input, button!! - Sorry!! image

Any ideas? (Other than 'just use a damned button you fool')!!

Andy

    Maybe,

One thing to look at is if the connectors on the display correspond with what the BCM wants.  If not, then the answer is probably no.  (From my knowledge and reading).

The connectors unfortunately are what the Nano wants . . . . . . . if there is info regarding the pinouts/signals etc - and they are compatible - then I can connect those together irrespective of plugs/connectors incompatability.

    I have big hammers, insulation tape and a welder . . . . . . . . . . . . image

    Thanks

It would probably be worth while to check out the LCD Touch Screen Thread on the RPF page. The have discussed iPhone/iPod Touch screens if it hasn't been discussed about the Nano screens someone there might know the aswers.

    @Jason G

Thanks for that Jason, time to bother another bunch . . . . . .

Reading the thread does seem promising though.

    Regards
