Banned... No good deed goes unpunished

It was basically the text from this E14 forum post, not sure why it was censored, it was only agreeing with Mograine that name calling had no place on these forums and that everyone should be professional and should respect others.

Seems very ironic that is has been censored becuase it is one of the things that the Rasbery Pi moderators always get critcized for, using terms like 'state police' and 'reign of terror'

It seems like one or more of the members don't like being reminded of what they have said in the past and are removing my posts using the "report abuse" button.

This is censorship of the worst kind of all: remove any point of view that you don't like so that no one can see it. Very telling. It's been said that this is a place where you can speak openly and there is no moderator interference. This is clearly because anyone can immediately delete anything that they don't agree with and it  then requires active intervention on behalf of a moderator to reinstate it. This is back to front.

No wonder there seems to be little disagreement around here - anything that doesn't conform to the groupmind is disappeared at the push of a button. If this is free speech give me active moderation any day - even by 'hatemongers'.

I suggest you take a look at this thread about the TOU of element14.  If a member considers a comment is abusive, he or she can Report Abuse and the comment is temporarily hidden.  A moderator then reviews the comment and decides whether or not to reinstate it.  If the moderator decides that the comment violates the TOU then it remains hidden.

While I personally found your earlier post unhelpful to the element14 community, I'm not the one who reported abuse.  However, I suspected it would shortly be reported by someone else for the same reasons a thread with IIRC essentially the same List of Grievances was hidden last August, and I suspect your comment will remain hidden.  If you want to publish your List of Grievances elsewhere and write a comment with a link to it here, I suspect that your linking comment won't be hidden.

Have you tried publishing it at the RasPi forum?  It would be interesting to see whether moderators there would find it abusive to the Larger RasPi Community even though it purports to defend the honor of RasPowersThatBe.

Why would a forum allow a set of posts about the forum owners that contains that level of abuse appear on thier own forum? That would be completely bonkers.

Why should the post remain hidden here btw? It contained a list of  posts MADE HERE by frequent posters. All it did was collate them in to one big post. That fact they were abusive and really showed up the posters perhaps?

Let's hope that by putting them all the one place, the poster gave some insight to the posters, that perhaps they are going way over the top.

With all due respect, if that list you made was a legit collection of things people have stated on this forum you've already stated why it was taken down, it would, allegedly, show the forum owners to be supporting massive libel against one of its business partners.  Leaving it up would be completely bonkers!

Of course, that is under the somehwat large assumption that the list was accurate.  If it wasn't then it would have been removed because of its inaccuracies, since the post is gone, there exists little way to prove its authenticity.

I'm part of the group of people being banned there. Even if I admit I may have crossed the line with the people in the Foundation it always was as a defense against a treatment I didn't deserve at all.

I stated a problem I had with element14 in my country in a complete absence of information from them. I still had problems to understand what happened and why where some element14 customers asked to pay 3 months before real delivery. I spoke with lots of people in the company and nobody knew/care. So I address it in the RaspberryPi forums (where else should I have asked for help) to realize that the people behind the Foundation where more concerned about bussinnes partners than users (not customers as they treat people when they want to "take control".

The lack of maners of Liz Upton, Eben Upton, Abishur and JamesH lead me to think they may have a strange conception on how to help people. The only good thing they have made banning me it's making me interested enough to learn and make a better device / more open to learn.

And I'm part of the group of people not banned from there, but I remember reading some article and comments about someone who was trying to get a free R-Pi, and it really did was a tasteless post so I'm happier not to contribute to such a forum.

Personally, I distinguish between RasPi's front-page 'blog posts and the RasPi forum.  A lot of front-page stuff is marketing and self-promotion that irritates me at times, but there's also useful information about new revs so it's worth a skim.  OTOH, the RasPi forum is a wealth of technical information because of the large number of people who contribute, and people often post interesting technical problems for the community to solve.  This provides opportunities for both learning and teaching.

Cobblers mate. IIRC you were really rude (yeh, I've been around a while!). You need to learn to accept when you been bad, and take the consequences. Seem odd to me there are about 10 people on here complaining about the moderators over there, and yet they have 35 thousand apparently happy customers. And the 10 complainers here were all banned for something or other. SImple statisitcs should give readers the idea of what's going on. WHich reminds me, I was gonig to email them to ask how many people have been banned from the site, just to get some idea of the percentages. Reckon that would be a fun number.
