Gertboard availability?

I have just had this reply from Farnell:

 

" Thank you for your enquiry.  Unfortunately we are not taking any new orders for the Gertboard at present as this one is going discontinued. We have a new Gertboard that will be launched shortly updates on this will be available through the  element14 website."

 

AFAIK it's only just been released so are Farnell right, or are they behind the times ?

  • I ordered my GertBoard here in Canada on August 9th, which I believe was one of the first days to order.  I got my shipping notice yesterday and the package arrived today.   Unfortunately what was in the package from Newark was not a GertBoard, but another Raspberry Pi.  They are investigating.   Just curious if this happened to anyone else.

    The same thing happened to me - ordered August 10; Canadian shipping address; shipping notice Wednesday; Raspberry Pi arrived Thursday. That's three of us.

     

    It's a real disappointment, as my five year old boy and I have been on tenterhooks for two and a half months. I've been hyping the assembly/soldering part to him, and we took a soldering workshop last weekend in anticipation.

     

    If anyone else is willing to part with their kit, please let me know.

    If I can get acknowledgement that fully assembled boards are going to be come out within the next 4 -6 weeks, I'll happily pass on my board as I'm going to be pretty maxed with work for the next 3 weeks or so.  Original delivery notification was Mid November, so I can wait until then..  I know that this caught Gert out by suprise (see here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=20526     From Gert: "This is totally new to me"

    " I can confirm the part number of 46W9829 for "BOARD, GERTBOARD ASSEMBLED"  from Newark/Element14 in the US.  Technical support & customer service at Newark helped me deal with a missing R23 from my recently received Gertboard kit - their solution was for me to return the kit to be replaced with the assembled board."
