Got my Raspberry Pi but......l

There is a really strong smell from it and I haven't even plugged it in yet! I suppose it's kind of like a new electronics/gluey type smell, hard to describe but really powerful. Just wondering if this smell is normal as I am slightly concerned re allowing my little boy to muck about with it just in case. I have removed it from the antis tactic bag to 'off-gas'. Anyone else found this?

I love the smell of burning Electronics in the morning :-)

Like Graham says, I don't think this is anything to worry about. Have a cup of water nearby in case it does spark up, but I doubt it will happen.

My vote would be on the extension cable, even if it's just in a non-flamable location, like your garage. Not that I think anything bad is going to happen, but it's always a better idea to work in your comfort zone.
