"Login Incorrect", raspian distribution.

Toptek53

Hi, I have just fired up my Raspberry Pi, but am unable to get beyond the login stage. The system responds to my attempts with the message "Login Incorrect". The distribution/operating system is "Raspian" as supplied with the kit (pre loaded card). I have tried "root" as both the login and the password unsuccessfully, as well as the combinations of "rasberry" and "pi" as suggested on some forums that I have looked at, again without success. I don't think it is a power supply issue as the unit supplied is rated at 5V, 750ma, and the power checks out at approx, 5.1V across TP 1  and 2. I am an electronics engineer with over 35 years experience, but am not very computer/programming savvy (yet). Any help would be appreciated to get me going.

Richard.

    Toptek53,

The username is a spelling test.  It's spelled "raspberry".

Note the "pb" in the middle, in both the login name and the name

    of the OS,  "raspbian".

the user name is pi and the password is raspberry.

just type raspberry in as username to see if your keyboard is having the correct layout. (you see what you type there)

If something else appears on the screen, it won't work and you have to figure out what 2 type to get raspberry.

(q and a sometimes are switched)

Once you logged in, you can change the keyboard layout.

Lesson learned, I cannot believe how many times I must have misspelled "raspberry". Now up and running. I appreciate your taking the time to point out my schoolboy error.
