PiFACE help DS18S20

Hello!

I'm just starting out with my raspiberry pi.  My goal is to setup a series of DS18S20DS18S20 temp sensors in my house. I've followed the projects on adafruits website to much success using a PI Cobber and a breadboard. I wanted to expand this out to do more including lighting controls and home automation type of stuff. I picked up a piface thinking I could do this in addition to temp sensors - but unfortunately have not found much luck in hooking up 1 wire devices to the piface, my assumption was that it would be easier considering the pull up resistors are already built in to the piface. Can someone point me in the right direction? I also have a DH11 humidity sensor that I also can't figure out how to hook up to the piface effectively.  I need more then ON/OFF control for these?

Thanks!

    hi john,

have you mentioned that the 1w-modules (w1-gpio and w1-therm) only working on GPIO04 (pin7 on Raspi-GPIO)?

I dont know the Piface module exactly, but as far as i know are the switchable pullups are 10k Resistors ->its more than twice as 4k7!!

Does the Piface support 1-wire sensors?

    mike

I think an issue could be that the PiFace is connected via SPI and it's outputs are not native Pi pins.  I believe 1-wire requires pretty exact timing so I'm not sure if that would be possible to do software 1-wire via one of the PiFace outputs.

Gordon of WiringPi has created WiringPiFace and has been very helpful in my questions about the PiFace (I wanted to do PWM for motor control).  You may want to ping him about 1-wire: https://projects.drogon.net/raspberry-pi/wiringpi/
