Seneca solicits advice on RPi bug tracking

There is some irony in wanting more feedback, while appearing to ignore

all previous feedback, including Drew's March 22 IRC feedback on the Hynix memory

problem discussed here:

Maybe someone from Seneca could be invited to participate in this E14 forum.

  • Perhaps the first thing that Seneca could do is appoint a project head that has actually had a proper job involving deadlines, customers and all the other stuff. He or she could then consider the possibility of communicating with the userbase directly and clearly, rather than burying what little information there is in page upon page of archaic mailing list guff. Still, the hardware floating point thing makes it all a bit moot imo.

     

    This whole farce is also an object lesson in why it's important to retain control over one's intellectual property. Fedora (head office) don't officially endorse the Pi (because of the closed firmware and whanot), but inexplicably they do allow any bunch of chancers with a copy of Linux For Dummies to create a remix bearing the Fedora logo that may not boot, install or even download. If I was one of the suits at Fedora head office I'd be very tempted to re-write the T&C and then get on the trumpet to Seneca to tell them that they can go get their sources from elsewhere...

     

    Seneca have had a year to pull their fingers out and they've failed in the most abject manner. The Pi userbase brings with it a lot of Linux first-timers and long term Linux fans owe it to their favourite OS to ensure that the open source thing is presented in the most professional manner - and if that means stomping on buggy, poorly supported software then so be it.
