Not booting with element14 sd card

Hello

I had created an sd card using the latest Raspian image which did not work. I had thought it might have been because of the card. So I ordered the element 14 Raspian 4 gb sd card. Same thing. I have 2 Raspberry Pi B's. When I apply power the red light comes on, and the green lights for a second. Then no activity and no activity shown on the screen. This happens with both computers. I tried it with the bluetooth dongle plugged in and not plugged in.

Any ideas? What might be the usual suspects?

One possibility: What are you using for output?

My first pi worked straight away on an old tv using composite video, but when I switched it to an HDMI tv, there was no output. After I ssh'd in and modified the config, it was fine.

So if possible try plugging into a different (composite video) tv. If that works, google for config.txt, hdmi, & raspberry pi.

iam using an hdmi cable to my hp monitor... i'll try the comp video in the morning.. thanks very much.. i'll post my findings.
