Does warranty cover broken sd-card slot?

starfry
starfry over 13 years ago

I have a Model B rev 2 board (2191863) that I received in March. On Friday, I was doing nothing more complex than inserting an SD-Card when the sides of it decided to ping off. Now it can't hold a card unassisted which means it's impossible to boot. Whilst I can get by with the assistance of a clothes peg, does the warranty cover this fault and, if so, what is the procedure for getting a replacement ?

My initial feeling is that a critical part failing within 3 months of irregular is not cohesive with being of "satisfactory quality" or "fitness for purpose" as per the sale of goods act.

I have read the myriad postings on the internet describing various "engineering solutions" to the problem but nothing about actually making a warranty claim.

Thanks.

    hi

i think it does as mine broke. assuming you got it from element 14 call them, tell them your problem and they should replace it. they had ups come and collect it from me and they gave me a refund and then i got another one. hope fully they will do this for you as well. if they dont you can buy replacement ones to solder on.

    hope that solved your problem

Good to hear that, Oliver. I also proceeded to get a replacement from Element14 who were very helpful. Same story - I paid for another which UPS delivered next day and collected the faulty one. A few days later I got the refund as promised. This was all back in June. I guess I should have updated the question earlier image
