Is it possible to connect 3.2" LCD via Dupont cables to the RPi?

randyskelly

I recently bouught a 3.2 LCD display, but I have completely no idea how to connect it to my Raspberry Rev.2. There are some videos on Youtube showing a display like mine connected to a Raspberry and fully working. But they use additional parts and some soldering to drive it. Is it possible to connect it directly via Dupont cables (female to female jumper wires) to the Pi? I have seen some similar TFT Touch Displays connected to the Raspberry via these cables directly.

I don't think the RPi has enough ports for direct connection.  I would investigate the "serial interface" that the site talks about before continuing.

The design at the site above is not possible using *only* dupont cables. There are not enough GPIO signals to drive the display.

The design at the linked site above includes a breadboard with additional shift register and divider IC's implementing a simple SPI to Parallel interface to the LCD/Touchscreen. This allows communication with the display using far fewer signals.

The design (or similar variations) are discussed here:

I am working on a more compact solution as discussed here:

in fact I am doing a kernel compile as I write this. :-)
