My eyes don't work in HD !

mgt6910
mgt6910 over 12 years ago

I find the Pi's HD-text size too small at 1080 resolution on  a monitor and Atrix.   If I set the resolution to 720 in config.txt, it;s better, but that

lowers the graphical resolution too much.

Is there any possibility of  changing screen resolution on the fly ? The ideal would be to boot into 720, then change resolution to 1080 inside startx

(and revert on exit...)

It is possible to select text-size in the lxde-terminal, but that's no help at login.

When the problem is inability to focus close up rather than lack of visual acuity, a 48" screen placed at twice the distance of your 24" monitor may be easier to read despite both having the same pixel resolution and the same angular size per pixel.  If there are no physical constraints on location of your screens (eg. you work on a very large table with no other occupants), it may be worth trying this because a 48" 1920x1080 monitor is called a TV and therefore can be quite cheap these days!

And one day, a 96" HDTV at 4 times the distance should be even better. image

What happens when the room isn't long enough.

Wireless keyboards and mice are fine so thats not a problem, just the room.

Extend your room into Australia.  I'm sure they won't mind, they have plenty of room to spare. image

And to reward Australia for helping out their NZ neighbour with extra monitor focusing space, I'll even donate to them 50% of our UK rain, which I'm sure they'll appreciate.  Isn't it nice when all the nations collaborate on resource usage!

While I'm at it, would anyone like some extra CCTV monitoring and GCHQ spying?  We  have a surplus of those two as well at the moment.

    as MI5 over here.)  Best -- L

    I'm with malcolm.

Its actually the best use for Australia I've seen ... other than when England dumped its criminals there.

I like that you have offered to help with their drought relief.

If some of theose countries with an excess of snow could offer some, then their heat problem in the far north would also be solved.

As for spying we have the GCSB and a couple of big dishes hidden inside inflatable covers (they look like really big golf balls).

They seem to have forgotten the rules about spying on NZ citizens, and now want to change the law to allow it.

Unfortunately they ran foul of KimDotCom (who is a NZ citizen) and have a bit of a fight on their hands.

So I offer to donate them and their dishes to Australia, so they can track down better TV signals for those in the outback.

    Mark
