Logitech MK120 Keys Respawning Too Fast

Hi,

 

After reading on a wiki, the Logitech MK120 appeared under the "Known to work" category for raspberry pi. I promptly ordered it from amazon, as my previous keyboards did not work >_<


Now, I get the same error. I am at the boot screen, and the pi recognizes the device IS there. However, type a key or do nothing at all, and I'll get the error: "ERROR: Keys respawning too fast. Disabled for 5 minutes." or something like that.


Is there a way to fix this?

  • I have the same keyboard and have not seen this problem with it. Please execute this command in your home directory and post the initab.txt file it creates in a reply:

     

    cat /etc/inittab > inittab.txt

     

    I will check it against my version of the file and see if there are any diferences that might cause this.

    Uhh... how exactly can I execute a cmd with no working keyboard? SSH?

    Is that the only USB keyboard you have ? If not try whatever you have available, a different one may work.

     

    SSH is another possibility but I think it is disabled by default (I could be wrong, I don't use it)

     

    Serial console is another but of course it requires an RS232 level or USB adapter.

     

    If you have another computer running Linux you can plug the SDHC card into a card reader and access /etc/inititab that way.

    Sorry I was in a bit of a hurry earlier. Here are a few more suggestions.

     

    First a question. Was the Raspberry Pi working before or is this happening on your first attempt to use it ?

     

    Make sure that the keyboard does not have any keys that are stuck in the down position.

     

    If you have a mouse plugged into one of the Raspberry Pi USB ports remove it and try the keyboard in both USB

    ports to make sure that it is not a bad USB port (or the mouse) causing the problem.

     

    If you have more than one USB keyboard try the other keyboard even if it not on the "official" list. I have tried

    a couple of older USB keyboards that I had laying around and were not on the list and they worked. Even if the

    keyboard does not work it would be useful to know if it causes the same message. If it works or does not generate

    the same message it is possible that the keyboard you bought is bad.
