Favouritism

I've thought this for a while, and seeing yet another blog post on the foundation site made me decide to see if it is just me.

Are the Foundation giving some people an unfair advantage, by putting up front page posts about certain suppliers ? From time to time they seem to blog post about certain providers, but never cover anyone else.

I'm not saying they should try and blog about everyone and everything that is available for the Pi, but rather show impartiality by not favouring anyone.

There are plenty of other things they can cover, so why repeatedly push what seem to be the 'Friends of Pi' as described down the right hand column.

Is it just me ?

Steve

Picking friends and picking enemies are just two sides of the same coin.  Positive hype reinforcement has been practiced there very overtly since the beginning, and promoting "Friends of Pi" is just a very visible instance of it.  Socially, they run a hype-based economy, and supporters are their "friends".  After all, ARM boards don't have friends and you can't be friends with a board, so it means "Friends of RPF".

I don't recall anyone ever accusing RPF of being even-handed, except possibly as a joke. image

Or, you know, if people actual told the raspberry people about stuff, maybe they woudl host it on the page? As far as I know, that's how it works. Gotta a good prodcut/project/idea? Tells us! Maybe its just that you cannot post everything, and you post the best stuff. Bloody hell, its what I'd do.
