hi my name is noah im going into the 7th grade and ive wanted to do a project with the rasberry pi for a long time. ive seen people make little tiny computers on a 5' display, i was wondering if i could make for the pourpose of using it to record notes for school or somthing else. i would like it to connect to the internet but it dosnt have too. i have an iphone but its hard to be looking at the notes 24/7 i want somthing small and that could fit in my pocket like my phone. please tell me if this is possible i will always love feedback via private message in the element 14 website.

    Hi Noah,

I have made a small display work, I also know many others that have too. I am not aware of anyone connecting one as large as 5 inches.

However, I know 5 inch displays exist and I know the larger ones have a very similar interface to the ones we already know work, so there is a good chance it could be made to work.

Have you decided what you want to use to take notes? That is, what input device(s) and what application(s) do you need?

    hi Derek

Thank you so much for responding and im so happy i may have a chance with this project. I think i can use one of the bluetooth keyboards like the one on the element 14 website and then i looked at the price it seems really expensive. But if i get that i can have a mouse and keyboard! I relized im going to need a usb hub and i would need internet thing (cant think of the name) and the monitor that i actually found on amazon, i know it will work because i saw the same one on the ben heck show!!!  I would also love to just use a generic note taking applicaton that i can just download to the sd card. iIf i missed anything please tell me

    Hi Noah,

    That link worked fine.

    Wow, that's a great deal!

It's not the kind of display I've been working with. This one looks like it would be very easy to connect to the Raspberry Pi, you'll just need a M-M RCA adapter.

I have to ask; It looks like you're pretty good at finding good deals, what do you need me for? :-)

One word of advice, though, This display is quite tiny, 3.5 inches, and is being driven through the video out of the Raspberry Pi, the combination of those two things may make the display very difficult to read unless the letters are very large.

Make sure you can return it if it is not useable.
