Hi there would love to know were to start

Hello all I am new to site but am eager to learn, I have done a bit of research and beleave this is the way I would like to go.  What I would like to do is make a media server from computer room to TV room, General set up is ethernet cat5e to TV room I could go wireless can get gigabit router it nessary I have compaired a few but down to:

Popcorn Hour A-400 http://www.cloudmedia.com/products/popcornhour/store-a-400

and finlly

 

BUNDLE, MODEL B + 8GB SDCard W/ NOOBS PRE-INSTALLED with Raspberry Pi Media Center 

 

Am I on the right track or am I missing something ? Would love imput, feedback etc.  Not sure if need the bundle I am great with windows PC's and know how to find software if I just got the new Raspberry pi with sd card, hdmi cable, and downloaded XBMC that would work ? 

 

I downloaded XBMC on my Note 2 and worked well

  • Thank you !!!!!!! I also check the read /write tab on card image im up and running now I'm working on sound play in tv speaker not Bose yet but I will be getting an av cable and that should fix it for some reason hdmi does not connect in bose but tv works great !!!!

    If your bose system is an older one and you use the VC-2 HDMI board then be aware that it doesnt support audio over HDMI. I recently discovered this myself after trying for a few days. Bose recomends using SPdif for the audio to go with the HDMI input. But this is only for the older lifestyle systems.

    I bought a audio cord single one end and double left right other I think I can plug that into the bord  finger crossed other then that Im up and running

     

    I do have another questiong HOW do I see other drives only see C: or main profile would love to get to E: F: so I do not have to drag and drop files to ssd
