Error message

rincewind1
rincewind1 over 12 years ago

I have set up pi tightvnc to run wireless from my laptop, when I log in to pi  from laptop via vnc viewer it asks for password and connects fine except on screen I get message

GDBusError.org.freedesktop.policykit1.Error.failed-AnAuthentication agent already exists for the given subject

When I click ok on the error box it goes away and vnc works perfectly seems error causes no problems, it's just annoying and may cause problems in future.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

    What Distro are you using?

Sorry for my ignorance, but as a novice, I don't know what a Disro is.

    Distro is shorthand for 'Distribution'.

What we need is the name and date of your operating system distribution.

    E.g. Raspbian, Sept 2013.

I've not seen this issue personally, however a quick Google gives me this, which is marked as solved. Since it is reported against the mainline Debian distro and Raspbian is Debian Linux compiled for ARM and Raspberry Pi, this looks very likely to solve your problem.

Please let us know if it does.

    Derek.

Thank you for that, in a way it's good that it's unusual, I think I will live with the error for now until I am confident enough to start playing around with face and policy kits.

Thank you again for your help.

From the hits I got, I would not say it is unusual. I just picked the first promising one. If you paste the error message into Google, you will see there are many more, including this one I didn't see first time around.

which is on the Pi itself (though without an answer posted in that case).

Anyway, looks like there has been more than one PolicyKit installed. Maybe this happened when you installed VNC.

When you do feel confident to tackle it, there are going to be plenty of threads to follow, I'm sure one of them will resolve it for you.

    Best,

    Derek.
