RPI SPI protocol

Hi everyone.

Ive serached for info on how to use the SPI protocol on the RPI but I found just a couple of projects that dont sheed light on the junctioning of that protocol.

Does anyone have info on how to use this protocol cause I want to use the two available connections on the RPi to control servos and sensors since the i2c on my RPi does not detect anything and no one seems to be able to help me on how to install the drivers so I want to use the SPI to connect since the deviceces Ive got has those connections too.

If anyone has info Ive research it and post my findings for anyone to use for their projects.

I would recommend you move this question to the RPi discussion group.

This says everything you need to know as far as I can see.

Are you perhaps looking for the required content on the MISO and MOSI signals themselves? If so, there is a good reason you can't find any references; there is no standard protocol. Each device has its own meanings for the bits it receives and sends. It will be fully documented in the data sheets for the devices you want to connect.

If you are looking for the GPIO pins that support SPI on the Raspberry Pi specifically, then the standard low level peripherals page covers it:

On the Pi, as on almost everything, they are MISO, MOSI, SCLK. The selection signals are CE0 and CE1.

The selection signals correspond to the spi.0 and spi.1 in /dev.

Thanks for the sugestion but I allready try it and all I could find was a vage reference that the comunication type exists but it starts talking abbout the i2c communication instead, cant find how to use the spi or how it works to have an idea of how to use it, and appart from that it shows a project for spi programer for RPi but the code uses some type of library that its not clear where the spi is called or how its called.

If there is any info other than mentioning the existence of the spi I would realy appreciate it, Im tired of hearing abbout i2c instead of spi, Im kind of starting to hate the i2c communication pins.

I don't do RPi things myself but I had a quick google and found:

You will have to do some serious hunting to get enough info to get going.
