Please help Alsa input/output error, Pd-extended

excessivewear

Hi all

I've fitted my card, got the sd card image up and running and built and installed Pd-extended.  Now I've hit a seemingly brick wall.  The first time I started Pd I got the error "Audio I/O stuck, closing audio" but it worked fine.  I closed pd and shut down the PI to clone the sd card and upon restarting Pd gives the error  "Alsa input error(restart failed)cannot allocate memory, and the same error for the output.  It repeats this numerous times and ends with the audio I/O stuck.... error.  Now there is no sound within Pd.  I have sound in the music player app but not Pd does anyone have any suggestions please?

Thank you

Apparently there are issues with pd-extended and the ALSA code. I had the same problem and ended up uninstalling pd-extended and installing vanilla pd, then adding the other extensions that I wanted. Works a charm now.

    Thanks for the reply David

I have managed to get it working.  I just added -audiodev 0 as a startup flag and off she went.  To tell the truth I was kind of gutted, I tried all sorts of things and in the end it was as easy as that.

Almost forgot, this was the guide I followed for installation:

I'm using a regular version of pd, installed via apt-get. I have output to the Line Out in Test Audio, but I don't know if is possible to use more than 2 input/output channels. Is PD capable to do that?
