Benachrichtigung, wenn Briefkasten geöffnet wurde

Former Member

Hallo zusammen,

Do you have power available at the letter box or will you need to run with batteries ?

There is no power available. Is there any chance to run it with batteries? I'm not sure what components I need.

you could but the PI consumes about 500mA on its own, then you will have to add WIFI adapter, maybe a screen etc depending on your needs near the letterbox

a better approach may be to use something like an Arduino or Launch Pad (Atmel vs TI) at the letterbox and use the PI in the apartment, the only issue being the range between them, how far is it (Line of sight)?, 30feet, 100 feet, more ?

the Microcontrollers are able to run on significantly less power (Some of the TI modules go down into the uA range so almost any battery would last for weeks without re-charging

do you have a way of securing your monitor device to prevent it getting stolen or exposed to the elements ?

    Peter

That sounds very well, using the rpi at the apartment and microcontrollers at the letterbox. The range is about 13feet. There are some walls between them. The letterbox is inside the building and the cover can be accessed from outside.

    Could you recommend any components?

    Hallo Jure,

Du könntest z.B. Sensoren von EnOcean nehmen:

    https://www.enocean.com/de/batterielose-funktechnologie/

Ein Reciver am RasPi und fertig:

    https://www.enocean.com/de/enocean-pi/

    Christian
