Hi,

I am having raspberry model B and installed raspbian and applied the kernel patches as mentioned.

I am able to play any music file however, when it comes to record any audio either from headset/Line out the file is created but no audio.

Please help me out.

I am in urgent.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Sid. Can you write down the stages you are going through to record so we can see? Perhaps you are missing a step

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for your reply.

I am following the below steps to perform audio recording:

    1. Plugged in 5 volts supply to wolfson audio card and 5 volts supply to raspberry pi
    2. Added patches to the kernel as directed.
    3. plugged in a headphone of into the headset.
    4. FYI I have attached the log file in which I had performed the steps.
    5. No output even after recording for atleast 1 minute.
    6. Also I tried to record a song from my mobile to headset using aux cable. but no output to lineout.

It will be great help from your side if you resolve this issue. As I am stuck up in mid of my project

Well for one, if I remember from what I read from the documentation, adding the 5v supply to the Wolfson board is ONLY for powering the loudspeaker headers at the end of the board on the USB side.

I too have been having some recording issues. I have managed to get some recording via the headphone jack but NOT the line-in via the audio editing program called "Audacity".

I will say to get Audacity to pick up the 3 channel headphone Mic I had to change the device drop-down selection for the Mic selection to "snd_rpi_wsp: hw:(0,0): AIF:0" then I could record voice from my headset.

    Hope that helps.

    I just made a discovery.

The "Line In" port does NOT work with a Microphone. It is designed for Stereo sound input only, like from a male-to-male 3.5mm connector say from a iPod, Phone, or other device to the "red" LineIn interface. I don't know why I didn't realize it before. If you wish to record Mic audio, the headphone jack needs to be used. I'm not sure if you could put together a stereo 3.5mm jack for a Mic if that would work but it seems that the 3 channel headphone jack (Sound and Mic over 1 wire) needs to be used with a headset to record Mic input.

Hope this helps anyone with the problem and hopefully saves them some time.

    hi,

Thanks for providing such a valuable information.

After erasing the entire SDHC card and load the raspbian image to it and followed the instructions to patch the drivers to existing kernel.

Now I am able to record from DMIC as well as Headphone and able to listen on Speakers/Line Out.

Could any one give me a solution as in my project both my DMIC and speakers should be working together i.e. I had given the below command:

    $arecord -Dhw:0 -r 44100 -c 2 -f S32_LE | aplay -Dhw:0 -r 44100 -c 2 -f S32_LE

but the issue is after few seconds a noise starts. (Here I am using DMIC for mic and speakers to listen)

    How to cancel the noise.

    Thanks in advance

The most obvious answer would be you're getting feedback - the mic is picking up the speaker output and it's going in a loop.  This makes a painful squeaking noise and you can often hear nothing else.

If not that then please can you try and describe what noise you're hearing?

    Hi Joe,

first of all sorry for replying so late.

i am able to record and play with minimal noise.

However, If I want to enable DSP firmware what are the prerequisites because as per the datasheet (WM5102) to enable AEC DSP firmware is required.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sid
