If you have a standard consumer router then the default setup should work right out of the box

I assume you have tried that, and if so then please describe you network, equipment and how you have connected it all, pictures and diagrams will help a lot

    Thanks

    Peter

I can see you have created same Discussion thread. Have you tried changing the modem settings I told you on the other discussion thread?

This thing is not going to work unless you make direct internet feed out from your modem. Let me explain to you what is happening right now and where you are stuck and why:

HOW IS YOU PC CONNECTED RIGHT NOW:

    >Right now your pc is connected to modem and your modem is connected to internet but your pc is not directly connected to internet as you need to provide a username and password every time you want to use it( in another way: modem is not set to Internet ready configuration)

    >So you connect your pc to internet via a dialup setup(this is the reason why you are not able to connect internet to raspberry pi as you cannot make a dial up setup on your raspberry pi)

    > This also explains why you can ping 192.168.1.1 via raspberry pi because this is the address of modem.

HOW I PROPOSE TO CONNECT IT:

    > You need to make your modem internet ready which does not requires any dialup connection. So whenever you connect your device to modem Internet is always on.

    > How to change modem settings, Follow the steps I told you in previous same Discussion. (http://www.element14.com/community/message/130907/l/raspberry-pi-internate-connection-problem-by-ethernate#130
