Hi there,
I bought a Rasberry Pi, case, wifi adapter etc and decided to go with the SainSmart 2.8" Touchscreen.
Description From SainSmart: http://www.sainsmart.com/sainsmart-2-8-2-8-inch-tft-lcd-240x320-arduino-due-mega2560-r3-raspberry-pi.html
SainSmart 2.8" TFT LCD Display is a LCD touch screen module. It has 40pins interface and SD card and Flash reader design. It is a powerful and mutilfunctional module for your project. The Screen include a controller ILI9325, it's a support 8/16bit data interface , easy to drive by many MCU like arduino families,STM32 ,AVR and 8051. It is designed with a touch controller in it . The touch IC is XPT2046 , and touch interface is included in the 40 pins breakout. It is the version of product only with touch screen and touch controller.
It says that it is confirmed to be compatible with the Raspberry Pi. I am new to this scene so I assumed that with other things that all I had to do was hook up the 40 pin cable to the display and to the 40 pin GPIO on the board and wala it works. Well the only thing that works on it is the display lights up to show that it has power.
SainSmart sent me the documentation on the display etc but after reading everything they sent me there is nothing that says what is needed to do to get it to work with the PI. So I sent them another email letting them know that I appreciate the documentation that they sent me, however it lacked the mentioning of the PI. There reply in response to this was to check out the forums here at element14. I did a search to see if there was anything here already and there is not.
So I am asking any and all who has used the 2.8" Touch screen display for assistance with installing the display so that way it will work and I do not need to keep it hooked up via the HDMI cable.
Thank you so much in advance for your help,
Shawn Mulligan
