Volumio and Cirrus Audio Card +

jirmjose

Hi !

My final goal is have a headless "rpi system" with Volumio and some XBMC platform (OpenElec).

How can we get that volumio release have support for Cirrus Logis Audio Card + ???

Can anyone help me to make it work on rpi B+ and new Cirrus Audio Card + ?

Serching the web, I only find some instuctions and few images from threats on Volumio forums but about Wolfson Audio Card and rpi B (not B+ and new Cirrus Audio Card +), but because are not targeted to the new hardware (rpi B+ and Cirrus Audio Card +) i tested that's not working on rpi B+ with Cirrus Audio Card +.

I try build a custom kernel too , and i follow intructions at https://github.com/CirrusLogic/rpi-linux/wiki/Building-the-code, but with no luck because several errors are raised (i think need several correct my linux platform to do it) when just i start make compilation.

Merry Chirstmas !!

    Hi,

I successfully installed kernel and modules following the instruction to volumio OS and now I am playing music through audio card.

I like Runeaudio (cue support, album art, etc..) better than Volumio so I wish Cirrus Logic provides the instruction for Archlinux kernel.

    Hi John,

I've been trying to install the kernel to Volumio to support the Cirrus on the B+, but have had no luck.

It's a bit of a big ask, but would you mind uploading your Volumio image with Cirrus support somewhere?

    Hi,

Here is the link for kernel and modules. Volumio image is too big.

    https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B5lWEG0rUcBvemFpRG9mZVZtYnc&usp=sharing

My step for volumio install is

    1. sftp two files and use files (SPDIF_playback.sh

    Playback_to_Lineout.sh) to /home/pi

    2. login

    3. sudo mv /boot/kernel.img /boot/kernel.img.orig

    4. sudo cp kernel.img /boot/

    5. sudo tar xzf modules.tgz /lib

    6. modify /etc/modules following instruction

    7. make /etc/modprobe.d/raspi_blacklist.conf folowwing instruction

    8. reboot

    9. login and run ./SPDIF_playback.sh

    10. VOLUMIO configure output to sndrpiwsp

    11. play music through card

If you cannot boot after copying modules, try copy files after

decompressing module files in home directory.

    cd lib

    sudo cp -r modules /lib/

    sudo cp -r firmware /lib/

    Cheers,

    John

    Hi George:

Sorry to ask a stupid question but just bear with a Newbee both on Linux and PI world.  Your blog says that not to follow your instruction for PI 2. Do I have that correct.  I had seen the Cirrus Logic kernel update in GIT.  Is that what I am supposed to use?

    Regards,

    Ahmed
