Raspberry PI Model B+ Boot Loop

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Am currently having the boot loop problem, and tested the currently variables:

- Using the Micro SD (8gb) included in the kit I bought (element14), boot loop

- Using and original Kingston card (16gb), cloned from the previous card, boot loop

- Using another power source (Huawei Tablet charger 5V 2A, and a generic 5V 2A) both boot loop

- In both combinations I've tested the following distros: OpenELEC, NOOBS, Raspbian, Raspbmc, retropie all of them boot loop

- The memories where formatted in Win and OSX with the SD Formatting tool SDFormatter (with FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT: ON)

All this tests were performed with an external HDMI monitor (with its own power source) and a generic usb and keyboard.

I can see the raspberry logo for a split second and thats all.

What else can I do, or just RMA the thing?

From what you say, I would send the board back.

It seems that processor starts and boots from SD (raspberry logo is on SD card) but propbably one of the peripherals on the board fails thus resetting the CPU

Do you have the ability to measure the voltages across TP1 and 2, even with a good power adapter, a crappy cable can mess up the system, the best thing is to measure the voltage on the board to be sure that is not your problem

I have done a post on the issue and Martin Lorton has just posted a video on his blog too

    Hello edsonlara,

Welcome to the element14 Community, we hope you enjoy it! I will move this over to the Raspberry Pi area as it is a better fit.

    Thank you,

    Jamie
