Has anyone had success with porting the Amiga forever softwarepackage over to the PI?
Has anyone had success with porting the Amiga forever softwarepackage over to the PI?
Clem thanks for the idea. That might be a lot easier path for me then my original idea. I've owned the software for some time and use it on my windows machine but thought this would be the perfect use for a PI2. The end goal would be to have rasbian configured to boot right into the Amiga environment.
Amiga Forever is commercial software for Windows according to Amiga.org. However, there is an Open Source package called "FS-UAE" with a Debian (maybe Raspbian too) install process defined worth trying out:
http://fs-uae.net/download#debian
Looking into it myself, just for fun.
The fs-uae package seems to have disappeared in the indicated repositories. However, if you run `synaptic` after adding the repository and search for fs-uae, you will find two binary packages. Some words of caution: the packages are Intel binary, NOT authenticated by the provider, and they are dependent on an old version of Python (2.6). I'll try to find the source.
Source code for fs-uae can be found here: Index of /stable/2.4.3
There doesn't seem to be yet any work yet at that site for the Pi or anything else ARM.
Yes the amiga forever has a windows portion as well as a Linux portion that loads up when you boot from cd.. I have checked the amiga boards and there are a few successful installs of some of the emulators on pi 2 looks like a summer projects a brewing...
Well first stage of testing complete .. I've managed to turn my Debian desktop into an Amiga 3k using fs-uae. shouldn't be too much of a stretch to move it to the pi.
I apologize for the loss of progress in this endeavor. Life intervened for a bit with any luck I'll be back on track shortly
