Raspberry Pi Screen Connector

Hi I recently bought a digital picture frame and took the screen out of it. I noticed that the screen has a 26 pin connector that doesn't fit into the raspberry pit! Is there any special adapter I can buy to attach it to it? I have a Raspberry Pi model B by the way!

  • Screens embedded inside "rearview camera" systems, "picture frames", "tablets" and "mobile phones" usually use an electrical interface called "LVDS". The 'pi does not have an LVDS output. :-(

     

    Best case, the display has an DSI interface. The raspberry pi has an interface of this type, but the signals go directly to the raspberry pi's GPU. You have to program the GPU to output those signals. This hasn't been done yet. (And it isn't easy: there are only a few people with access to the GPU-specs and the compiler. Secondly the configuration is different for each screen. )

     

    You can buy "HDMI -> LVDS" converters on Ebay for about $30. You have to tell the seller what screen you have, and they will configure the device for you. I haven't tried this personally.

    The PI does have an LVDS output it is referred to as DSI and is a two lane lvds connection. The issue is the lack of driver support for it, this has been long awaited.

     

    btw, the display interface is not LVDS, it is FPD-Link which sits on the LVDS physical layer see here for more details Low-voltage differential signaling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, this talks about this miss-conception image

     

    Either way though for now, the PI may as well not have the connector as it is not usable without the right drivers
