Is it possible to connect this 17in display(from a Toshiba Satellite) to a Raspberry Pi, without using HDMI. So I got this LCD(I think it is LCD) from my Dad's old laptop. I want to use it, and I had an idea. Make a portable Raspberry Pi. I have everything worked out, except for 3 things. 1. Can I connect the LCD to the Raspberry Pi successfully? 2. Can I connect it without using HDMI? 3. Can I use only one power cord?

Below are all the pictures of the monitor.

Extra Info:

Am Using:

Raspberry Pi 1 B+

5V(I think)

Raspbian

Yes and no. I'm no expert, but from reading around for my own project, I am sure it is possible to drive an LCD screen using the GPIO pins, but you would at least need an intermediary breakout board.

Here is a short vid from Adafruit that says something about that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTuvzxkVaKs

If you still have the rest of the laptop you can probably find a driver board in that which goes with this LCD panel.

If not, you can buy a universal LCD driver board which you could then connect the Pi to directly or use the HDMI or analog outputs. Here is one from Banggood as an example (I'm not certain this is the right one for you): V29 Universal LCD Controller Board TV Motherboard Free Program Version Sale-Banggood.com

Usually you will find a 5 volt rail on the driver board from which you could possibly power the Pi conveniently so that you would only need the one power cord to power the driver board. If not, you could always add your own power regulator circuit to take the 12 volt input down to the voltage needed for the Pi. Either way, you will only need one plug when you're finished with the build.

I happen to have an old laptop that I'm looking into replacing the motherboard with my R-Pi B+. The power cord, battery, display etc. still work, but it won't turn on, so I'm pretty sure it's a bad motherboard. I'm just now getting around to working on it. I plan to use the keyboard and case just as it is, take the mainboard out and put the Pi in, using the LCD driver that's in there.

Could you please send me a picture of the driver board so I know what it looks like? Also, is it on the motherboard? I don't know if I can find it, but I hope so image.
