Raspberry Pi 2 audio jack

Hi!

How do you configure the audio jack on the Raspberry pi 2 to send out the audio from a music channel on the internet. The operating system I am using is

LXpanel 0.7.1

When you click on the audio aplet, it looks like you have to fill out a few tab areas with information which I have no idea what to put in. Could anyone give me any information on what to do.

    Hi Enrico,

    Thank you so much for responding back to me regarding the audio jack on my Raspberry Pi 2. This is my very first Raspberry Pi 2 I brought. I head a lot about it on line  and read about it. I know nothing about programming with Linux, but wanted to have a very small computer to use on the internet and listen to music. When I turned on the computer for the first time, it had you choose from a menu what type of operating system you want to use. This was on the pre-loaded mini sd card that came with it. I have to look back to see what I chose for the operating system. What I did do was right clicked on the desktop and came up with that LXpanel version 0.7.1 which must be the operating system.

    I can take some screen shots with my camera, can the photos be uploaded on this site? Please let me know what you think and get back to me when you can.

    Hello Don,

     

    this LXPanel sounded me strange as the name of a linux OS. And it is the startup panel. Better if you can send some photos as I have not saw this (I install linux on the Raspberry PI just from the image that I make by my own). Well the point is: Using the included microSD it is expected you follow these steps:

     

    • Boot with the micro SD. You access a first choices menu. This is NOT the OS
    • Select what OS you want to install. You can chose between several options, including (but not only) Raspbian and a multimedia version of Linux.
    • Then setup the OS installation
    • Then you have Linux aboard.

     

    I don't remember all the choices, but you can check them to the following link: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/noobs/ (I suppose that you are at the level of Noobs choices menu).

    Instead this is the link of the available Linux versions for the PI2: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ I suggest to take a look to the documentation of the features of these distributions (and eventually read what other users posted on this community about them) then decide what is the choice that better fit your needs.

    Hi Don,

     

    you should know that it is really easy to add images or videos (uploading or embedding from Youtube, Vimeo etc.) just on the editor bar click on the camera and select the file you want to upload. Then you have some options clicking in the image to resize it. As this post is important because it will be useful for someone else in the future it is better that the entire thread including the images, part of the code etc. are inside the post itself. I suggest you to pen a separate post, trying the editor features to be aware of the possibilities. Simply keep this post a draft (only you can see it) and make all the experiments, then you can keep it as a sandbox for the future or simply delete it.
