Hello all,
I have a SainSmart LCD that can be found here http://www.sainsmart.com/sainsmart-3-2-tft-lcd-module-320-240-touch-screen-display-for-raspberry-pi.html and a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B that is running the version of Kali Linux found here: https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-arm-images/ and labeled "RaspberryPi w/TFT"
When I plug in the Pi nothing appears on my LCD screen, and when I plug in an HDMI a brightly colored rainbow rectangle appears on my screen. Plugging in a keyboard and attempting to run commands does not seem to do anything. I also am unable to ssh into the Pi using this version of Kali Linux, as the Pi does not show up on my network. I have it connected via ethernet. Due to the Pi not appearing on the network I suspect that this distro is somehow crashing when I attempt to boot it.
I attempted to use a different version of Kali Linux (The one labeled RaspberryPi 2/3 from the link above) and was able to get it working on my Pi, with the display functioning through HDMI and ssh fully functional. However, I was unable to get the LCD screen to function using that version of Kali. I also tried using both Rasbian Jessie and Raspbian Jessie lite along with a number of tutorials for the LCD screen that I found online, still with no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this screen working? I would prefer to use Kali, but if I need to use Raspbian Jessie and install pentesting tools as I go that would be fine as well. The only thing I need the screen to display is a command line interface.
