Error Message Using Pi Camera Noire V2, but not when using PI Camera V2

I've Raspberry Pi 3 B, with the latest version of NOOBS and install Raspbian. Has performed RPI-update, apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. When I plug the Pi Cam V2 everything works fine. Then I switch to Noir V2 (using the same ribbon, replace only cam) and get the following error message:

mmal: mmal_vc_comonent_enable: failed to enable comonent: ENOSPC

mmal: camera component could not be enabled

mmal: main: Failed to create camera component

mmal: Failed to run camera app. Please check for firmware updates

What should I do?

I am experiencing the EXACT same situation.  I am running a brand new V2 camera and a brand new V2 NOIR camera.  When I install the V2 camera on my Rpi3B, it works exactly as planned.  When I install the V2NOIR it gives the following error:

mmal: mmal_vc_component_enable: failed to enable component: ENOSPC
mmal: camera component couldn't be enabled
mmal: main: Failed to create camera component
mmal: Failed to run camera app. Please check for firmware updates

Troubleshooting steps I have undertaken thus far:

    • Swapped cables on both cameras.  Both cables work fine with the V2 camera.  Neither one works on the V2NOIR.
    • Applied all the latest patches/firmware/updates.
    • From the StackExchange link: Modified the /boot/config.txt file to increase gpu_mem from 128 to 144 (even tried 256 just for kicks)
    • From the StackExchange link: Modified the /boot/cmdline.txt file to add the 1-Wire fix "bcm2708.w1_gpio_pin=18"
    • Checked and reseated the J2 connector between the NOIR camera itself and the board it is mounted on.
    • Swapped cameras onto a brand-new (different) Rpi3B board.  Same results (V2 Camera works, V2NOIR does not work - same errors).

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks ahead of time!

    Rich

    Hi,

I had "NOSPC" errors too. The error message hints at memory being exhausted. So I tried increasing GPU memory and now it works. I found an error message somewhere that indicated a minimum of 128Mb of GPU memory was required, but I already had that. You need even more. I have gpu_mem=144 in my config.txt on the pi that has the noirV2 attached.....
