How to make conversation(Talk) using raspberry pi3

I simply want to talk to my friend at the next room. Is there any simple way to connect a microphone and speaker with GPIO pins of raspberry pi3 and make conversation???

The raspberry pi doesn't have an ADC or DAC required for audio. The raspberry can do reasonable-quality audio output by a hack using PWM and a filter. But there is no input.

You could buy an USB-soundcard. They cost less than a dollar on ebay.
