Pi won't boot when sense-hat installed

Hi folks

 

I have a Pi3 that came bundled with a 3.5" touchscreen. I bought a sense-hat, took the screen off and attached the sense-hat and the Pi won't boot.

 

If I take the sense hat off, it boots fine.

 

Any ideas? Have I got a dud device?
