Home Automation Based (raspberry pi 2b and arduino)

Hello There,

I need some ideas for one project i've been working for a while(actually 2 year or more i change 3 raspberry until now upgrades) . I got the idea from the movie Ironman. I said to my self to built something like (JARVIS) and combine both software and hardware to make a program that will run the house. Until now i manage to connect the water boiler of the house some of the light.  I also add some led strips around the house in case of a power failure have something . . . . . I am working on now to design an alarm system (with arduino, gsm shield, and some motion detectors) the main panel is based on a raspberry pi 2B. I made also a program of my own to control anything that is connected to it by my computer or any other pc with that program installed on or by voice even when i am not front of my pc using a bluetooth headset (although it has a delay on the respond) or by using the Raspberry's default webio page in the web using the ip of the raspberry.

I need your help to suggest me anything else to make or connect to my panel. . . Any suggestions are acceptable. Or any features for my program (any kind).

Thanks a lot

It sounds like you have a few separate systems up and running in the house, they sound great but if they are separate, it would be good to combine them into a single system

Using the Raspberry PI, Node-red and MQTT as the heart you can use pretty much anything around the edge to measure environment, control loads like lights, heating etc and also having a central control system you can have it handle multiple interfaces (WEB, Smart Phone, ImperiHome, Amazon Echo etc) to manage it all

edge control and measure devices can be easy to implement using readily available SONOFF units and the good thing is there only a few $$$ each.

If you want more info, let me know

Yes there are some separate systems but all are connected in a main panel in my room and work together. Actually raspberry is the brain as on it i connect a board with 16 ralays . . . Arduino from the other hand is the brain's b side as it monitors temperatures, humidity and stuff like that, and both of them report to my computer and the program that i made. . . . I don't want to use "external things"  like Amazon echo or imperiho because i would like it to be as homemade as possible. Everything i connected until now are using a homemade shield or circuit board. . .

So this has gone from supporting you from a code perspective to a fundraiser fir a home automation project.........

the folks here are perfectly willing to help from a code perspective as a learning thing, but now your asking for money... sorry.

My suggestion about rethinking the edge device shot down....hmmm

Having a separate edge device from the BRAIN is actually a good practice in most situations and can reduce cost considerably especially if you propose to make this a product, if you want to simply raise funds then E14 is not the right platform.. sorry

Imperihome can be used without their cloud service. You can fully integrate it with node-red and the only thing you need is the Phone app. I have tried this before and I quite like the fact it can provide a very good UI but still be completly driven from the home raspberry PI or PC.

You would need Node-Red to host REST api and a DB if you want historical charts bot all this is easy to do on a PI, BBB, Intel Galileo etc.
