Raspi3 Video Demultiplexer?

RovertScott

I'm currently tinkering with 3D video using a Raspberry Pi 3 and I'll be using an interlaced composite video output.

However, I need to split the upper and lower fields between two CRT viewfinders (I know that the Raspi can't do that).

So, does anyone know of a circuit or module that can demultiplex interlaced video?

I'm choosing to do Field Sequential 3D, because the CRT viewfinders I'll be using are low resolution and a fixed frame rate.

Using the advantage of interlaced video, I can hopefully "double my frame rate" and achieve a flicker free experience.

I don't know if this will help but VLC can output to multiple video outputs, each with their own filters applied.

If you tell one to output using odd scanlines and the other to output using even scanlines you are potentially partway there.

You could also consider streaming one channel to a second Raspberry Pi, so that you can use both composite video outputs. That might be more flexible, and would possibly cost a similar amount compared to any circuit to demultiplex.

I'm now considering if placing an LCD shutter between the CRT and the lens would be easier.

I would like to keep everything as simple as possible, without need for additional Pis.
