RPi 3 A/V out

cloud12077
cloud12077 over 8 years ago

I'm new to the forums, but I have been reading through other posts and I can't seem to find the solution.

I'm trying to get A/V out working. HDMI works just fine, but this pi will be for my niece and her TV doesn't have any HDMI.

Based on the following diagram my camcorder cable will work using the right audio (red). I have even tested with my multimeter and verified my A/V cable does in fact follow the camcorder SRRT.

Diagram

While the HDMI is disconnected I have tried the following:

Hold 3 during boot up

Hold 4 during boot up

Tried each RCA plug as video during boot up (just in case)

Removed # from sdtv_mode=2 config.txt

Any thoughts?

That seems like overkill but if it works then go for it.

I've reinstalled NOOBS and still a no go. I decided to just use an HDMI to AV converter, since it can be powered by the RPi to convert the signal. Thanks for all the replies!

I have done this several times and have found that in some cases the camcorder cable does not match the drawings and you need to take the shield from one connector and hook into a different connector  .

Confirm that Pin 4 (sleeve ) video signal  goes to the center pin  of the RCA connector.

Confirm that Pin 3 (Ring 2) is connected to the shield of the same RCA connector

    Power off RPI disconnect HDMI.

Plug AVI connector into the Pi plug the RCA connector into the tv

Turn on the TV Select AV input

    Turn on the RPI

you should see the color panel
