Here is a good article sing Raspberry pi with Amazon web services same as echo. Roll Your Own Amazon Echo on a Raspberry Pi | Hackaday . It should be a great project. Let us know by posting it here.
Thx Clem for your posting. The URL listed answered some Q's I had about the AED (Amazon Echo Dot), but opened more Q's about the project as a Whole. I will leave it to EM & MH to come up w/ a Project Aim and Requirements for this project. It is hard to obtain Meaningful Specifications on these devices GHD and AED. WRT GHD, I might be able to inspect and ask Q's about it, in person. There is/was a Google Pop-Up Store (in NYC) a few months ago. I went there to checkout the Google Smartphone Pixel. Maybe they have an Google Home Device GHD there?

Google's GHD lists at $129. Has a 16.5VDC @2A Power-Brick. So much for portability. BTW the Bottom of Unit Contains The Speakers for Sound. I guess it's back to the Amazon AED?
