I want to buy a B .  Are there any other accessories I should be ordering at the same time?  I am a newby to Raspberry.

Just got a bbc microbit to start learning about microcontrollers (if that's the right name) and also got a book out of the library "Raspberry Pi for Dummies" so wanted to get a Raspberry Pi to follow along with the book.

 

Appreciate any guidance in this area.

    Happy that you started here Jonathan !

     

    In theory no, you don't need so much other things. If you have a minimal knowledge in soldering / wiring / breadboarding, I suggest to but the kit to connect better the micro:Bit to your GPIO of the Pi.

     

    Take a look to the micro:bit accessories at Pimoroni, they sell cheap ones.

    Well, at a minimum you are going to need to ensure that you have a power supply and a micro SD card for the Pi. Other than that, you don't really need anything, assuming you have a way to burn images to the sd card, and you have a monitor and a keyboard to set up NOOBS for the first time, or if the card is already set up that you have a network and a machine to ssh into the Pi from.

     

    You will learn that the Pi runs a variant of Debian Linux (raspbian) , which is just a particular flavor of Linux, and that Linux is just a particular flavor of Unix.

     

    So, you do need some things, but as Enrico says, if you have the pi up and running, you don't need much else.
