Hi, I am searching for a sensor which has the best function to detect the entrance of mosquitoes into a surrounding area. And it will connect to raspberry pi. Could anyone recommend me a sensor for that? Thanks in advance

Hi Bruce,
How big is the area? How about a sensitive microphone that is processed through a filter that is selective for the frequency of the mosquito's wing beats? I may be wrong but all the mosquitoes that I have ever encountered all seemed to have the same pitch to their wing beats. Does anyone know what that frequency is?
John
Hi John. Thanks for your reply. The area will likely similar to a big balloon size. And I just need a sensor to be located at the entrance so that it will detect the entrance of mosquito. I not looking for any specific sensor for mosquito but just want to know sensor for detecting small object like mosquitoes. Perhaps any object detection sensor or motion sensor can do that?
I think you need to do a lot of research - you can't just buy a mosquito sensor. There are discussions on the web which explain why cameras are unlikely to work. As John suggests sound is a good candidate.
Try this for a start:

Hi Michael Kellett. Thanks for your reply. I will refer to that for more details.
Hi Bruce,
You might search "Dust Detection" on this site or check out this similar thread from 3 years ago where we discussed detecting insects. The fact that you are dealing with a relatively small area helps as the sensitivity of the sensors doesn't have to be quite so great.
